Since the Dayton and surrounding area is pretty limited with Mustangs, what would you all think about merging with Stangbangerz (if they'll have us...) ??
We could be Stangbangerz Northern Chapter.
Everything here would stay the same (except for the name) and we could consolidate our resources with theirs!
We could invite the Stangbangerz members up to events here in the Miami Valley. As it is, they hold an annual pilgrimage to the USAF Museum right in our own backyard!
It would be a WIN - WIN situation for everybody IMHO!!

..then they would have to change the slogan to "Stangbangerz own this state beeyatch!" LOL!
Actually our area is stang infested but fragmented out the wazoo. I think what Mike and all of the guys pushing the Gem City Stangs find the most challenging is getting the word out to Mustang owners in the Miami Valley that there is something here locally that is available to them. Stangbangerz has been around for a longer time period and has received some well deserved press in the magazines.
Cincy and Columbus have larger populations ( I tend to think of them as "real" cities and Dayton as a "mini-city") so if things do not gell locally I might see some gravitation to do what you have suggested. But let's see what happens!
Eric, was that you who rolled with Phil Wassill and I a couple of years ago to the Tri-State show? Phil had his white Boss 302 and I had a Grabber Orange one back then.

I for one would rather have our own local club, to me clubs are about getting together and having good times and talking about our favorite cars and hobbies. If you join a club that is based in Cincy you will find yourself driving to Cincy to do what you enjoy. I bet when they started out they had the same issues we are dealing with. Its not really about organization either its about involvement. We just need to get the word out ...its that simple. We have cards to hand out, yet there are only a few actually doing it. We can pick upcoming events this year and go in force. When you band together people notice, and want to be involved also. We have a diverse group of people bolstered by alot of experience and a local source for both knowledge, parts and service (Dayton 5.0). Man this thing is just starting, lets build something we can all enjoy right here in our backyard.

I agree. If people from Dayton wanted to be a part of stangbangerz they would already be driving down to cincy on a regular basis. It is almost like starting a new business, you don't experience huge profits the first couple years your open.

I HAD to sell my 69 Mach I when Uncle Sam sent me to Alabama. :(
Anyways, I Retired from the USAF 4/03 and moved back up here to Troy.
I have a 89 5.0 LX Vert nowadays.
BTW, a good friend of mine found the proverbial "Boss Mustang hidden in a barn for 15 years"!! He got it for a song and a dance! He's doing a complete resto on it right now.

Sold that Boss, then had a very low mileage SCJ '69 Mach, then a Calypso Coral Boss and now my Cobra 'vert. Thought I had another Boss lined up but the guy wanted me to pay for his retirement! LOL! That's when I got the Cobra. I may get another old one someday. Sounds like the Boss 'n a barn was a great find!
Phil is up closer to you now, living in Vandalia. He sold his Boss to Rick Parker in Columbus as his daughter is off in college. I think he bought his own FedEx truck and route.
Keep it local. I like the Small group.
We can only get larger - that is part of the fun. going from a samll group and making it better. At the same time, Simple.

Well, if this line of logic that you are proposing was true, then I should sell my business and go to work for Cincy Speed. NOT!:crsbons:
If you want to be part of Stangbangerz, go for it! If you want to be part of our beginning club/board, go for it! It is what we make of it. I started this board because there were a lot of mustangs up here. If you think there aren't, stop by KilKare on a Thursday and check it out. There are a lot of folks in the area with stangs, and they make them fast. Cincy has a lot more keyboard jockies, we have go fasters. I think this board is great. I like the people on here, the good times we've had, and boobs. How'd that get in there? Anyway, Vinnie has a good thing going down there, we have a good thing going up here. I am a business that started a board for the locals, they are a board for the locals that's turning it into a business. '
I like what we have. Stangbangerz like what they have. But I would be happy to let them be part of Gem City Stangs if they want to start a southern Chapter, :crsbons:

Well I am a part of stangbangerz and a part of this board. I joined stangbangerz back in 03 when this one wasn't around. Now that this board is up and running I tend to spend more time here because hello it's closer. I assure you that this board wil start to grow as the weather turn nicer! I know I have been handing cards out around the city and surrounding areas. Just give this thing a little mroe time and go out and try to get people on here to see what we are about.
The only problem I see is the same as Rix see's participation! If we don't have this then there won't be a large board.
So you guys and girls who want to get in on a great thing stop by the shop or even stop by Vandalia Rental where I work at and get some cards from myself or mike!

Kat - as flattering as that was to read, I have to agree with the other folks. A Dayton group would be cool to see happen. Keep at it, let people know what's happening up there and don't be part of a scene, make a scene. ;)
Mike, I know sarcasm is hard to pick up online but that "keyboard jockies" remark was uncalled for as was the Cincy Speed comment. I take it as a personal attack toward the members on my site as if they all just run their suck and don't have anything quick. If that's how you feel, I'll make it interesting for you.....
You bring your car and 5 of your members cars and I'll bring my car and five of my members cars and everybody brings $100 with them. I'm confident we have more than just "keyboard jockies".
Don't let your mouth write a check your ass can't cash.
Good luck with the Gem-City thangs

Thanks Vinny,
I really dont think there is any malice intended. I surf all the boards looking for an edge or answers or to give what little advice I may have. This was started for the same reasons your club was Im sure....for Stangers to get together and have some fun. I can see alot of fun rivalry at tri-state and good times with both our clubs in the near future.
By the way , you still in for golfin?

My ass can cash any check I write!:crsbons: If one car won't do it, the other one will, maybe it's the motivation I need to finish it up. Maybe my wording was poor, but my intention/meaning was that there are a bunch more people in cincy that have 2 thousand posts to their credit, which is to me a keyboard jocky. Nothing derogetory, just a fact that there are fewer people in Dayton that seem to get on the boards. Don't know why, it's just something that I have observed and hope that maybe more people will climb out of the woodwork.
As for Cincy speed, it was a logic progression, saying this board needs to merge is like me merging with another speed shop, and if cincy speed is too sensitive then how about D&J or Competition Milling? Remeber, I am a cincy boy by birth, transposed to Dayton, but I have the same devotion to this city as I used to have to my Cincinnati.
As for the challenge, I think it would be fun, but keep your cash!
You don't need to pound your chest here, you have the bigger board, the faster cars, yadda, yadda. but we are trying to start something, and really, I take it personally when someone says, hey"you guys suck, why don't you go with a winner". So, yeah, I get sensitive and protective of what we have up here in the great white north, but there's no loss of love on this end. Just standing up for myself, and our board/members.

I would be up for that, we haven't had a weekend meeting for a month or two, how about next weekend (the 11th and 12th)? We have done Quaker steak a few times and weren't real happy with the service, we usually just start a thread about a get together and let the members kind of say where they wanna go. Stay tuned to the club section!
