While talking to some guys at Dayton 5.0 the idea of a golf outing for club members came up. I thought I would post this thread to gage what kind of turnout we may expect. We could have a scramble format and basically just have fun. Obviously the course would have to allow carts and beer.....nuff said.

I have no problem organizing the event, everyone that is up for it please respond. FOOOUUURRR!

I would be in, but I must admit that I really really suck at golf! But as far as I am concerned its all the more reason to have fun! :D

Thats right, you dont have to be a good golfer, just have fun and try to keep from getting plunked with a ball....it hurts....I know. If we play a scramble it all evens out in the end. We can either draw names or assign teams based on abilities.

01-17-2005, 03:49 PM
Or we could put all the good golfers on Kyle's team!:2gun:

Rick- I would have no problem co-organizing with you if you would like. Also I have a couple friends who golf so if we don't get a good response from here maybe we can still do it?

I know alot about courses up north of Dayton, but if we need to hold it South of town I will need help. You have to pick the right place so we dont get hassled and kicked out before we make the turn if you know what I mean. I am open for suggestions. If people dont mind driving to the Huber Heights area we have a course thats fun to play not so uppity. I would say lets shoot for a Saturday afternoon and then maybe we can get some supper afterwards.

maybe a Saturday sometime in April? Thats probably about the earliest we can count on having decent weather.

Drinking and driving golf carts is fun, I don't know about the golf thing though.......

just kidding

There is a golf course in Xenia that UD has had a golf outting at before. They let us have a keg there........

FOOOUUURRR! is the word.
Put my name in the hat. If you need some help setting this up. let me know.

April or later sounds good. It will take me that long to find my clubs. Anyone seen my balls? They are little white things about so big.

There is always Larch Tree over near Trotwood, we could meet at Dayton 5.0 and then head over. We have had some major bashes on that course.

Well I have witnessed the drowning of a cart at one of the outings I am involved in every year. It took a tow truck and winch to pull it out, pond was 20 foot wide and 14 feet deep. Funny thing is my buddy managed to get his clubs and his cooler off the back before it went under! The course didnt share my feelings!:D

Wooo HOOO. King Cobra's, huh? Just like the mustang 2. Actually that will work better than my first plan: beating up Kyle and taking his clubs and lunch money from him.

Nice! I flipped one with me and another guy in it. Its the only thing I could do to keep it from shooting into the river (that one that runs through downtown columbus). I was good to go, but the other guy scraped up his leg pretty good.

I am an expert at rolling people out of carts, uh hey could you scoop up my ball for me, yank the steering wheel and they do nice tight barrel rolls down the fairway...hilarious.
Guy tried to kick me off the course for this maneuver...I told him the guy was playing so bad he was suicidal and jumped out on his own.

Yea lets put it on the calendar, i will call Larch tree next week and see what we can get arranged. I am guessing less than 12 "golfers" from what I have heard so far.

93LXVert
02-09-2005, 07:49 PM
I just put it on the calendar, hopefully we can get one hell of a turnout for this! Once we start gettin some more confirmations on the date from people then I will make a list and post it.

RIXXX93GT

Update:
I contacted Larch Tree golf course and we have a tentative set of tee times setup for May 7th @ noon. I figured that would allow some of the late risers to get prepared. Maybe after we are through hacking we can arrange a meeting back at the shop for a cookout or something if its okay with Mike. It would be nice to all meet at Dayton 5.0 before and caravan over, the course is at 2765 N. Snyder Rd. in Trotwood.
I have asked for 4 tee times so that means max of 16 golfers unless I hear soon that more are needed. The plan is still a best ball 4 man teams and we can pull names from a hat for teams or arrange according to handicap if possible.

Please send me a pm with your name, number and handicap if possible (no sandbaggers please this is just for fun) letting me know you will be participating. I can start the list and go from there. Hopefully things will fill up fast.
Lets all participate and maybe we can grow this into an annual outing, and you get to say you were there for the first one!

NXCoUpE
02-11-2005, 01:28 PM
Sounds good to me. You guys are always welcome. We can meet and go over, then when we get back we can fire up the grill and suck back the suds that are left over!

You need to go to the top of your PM list and click on the down arrow, select sent items. select all and delete them. They count towards your total allotted items. This will open your mailbox, and explains to you why you haven't been getting much mail lately:crsbons:

Please if everyone could meet up at Dayton 5.0 we can get an official count and get organized before we get to the course. Be at the shop between 10:30-10:45 we will be leaving for the course by 11:00.

RIXXX93GT
05-02-2005, 03:59 PM
Just an update, I have confirmed three tee times starting @ 12:00 noon for this Saturday. This gives us 12 spots and from my calculations it looks like we still have maybe two openings left. Fees for 18 holes with a cart is 35.00 which is a bargain these days.
We will still have a best ball format since it seems we will have quite a few novice golfers, including me! I will come up with some basic rules and we can get organized before we head to the course.
Right now the forecast is for partly sunny high of 72 degrees so it should be a great day and bonfire at night.
