I’m selling my 2001 Saleen. I am the third owner of the Mustang and I bought it about a year ago and found it had a coolant leak and ended up replacing the engine block, pistons, bearings, oil pump, and a few other parts. Mike had the car running great! But a few months ago it shut down on me... My dad is a mechanic and we couldn't figure anything out. The car sputtered up, backfired then died and hasn't re-fired since. I wish I had more info on it. If you have anymore questions I'll do my best to answer them

Here is an abbreviated mod list. Motor was rebuilt and tuned by Mike Bell from Dayton Performance.

Engine
SHM ported/polished 4v heads
SHM ported/polished intake manifold
03/04 cams
crower valve springs and retainers
DSS forged pistons 9.5:1 compression
Manley forged rods
forged cobra crank
teksid block bored .020 over
vortech v-2 supercharger
vortech aftercooler
fluidyne radiator and heat exchanger
walbro 255lph fuel pump
42lbs injectors

Drivetrain
T-56 6speed
aluminum driveshaft
auburn pro diff
4:10 gears
31 spline moser axles

Suspension and brakes
14" rotors up front 13" rotors in rear
4 piston brembo calipers on all 4 wheels
bilstien coilovers
18x9 saleen light wheels front
18x10.5 saleen light wheels in the rear
nitto nt-01 tires 275/35 in front and 315/30 in the rear

all parts below are from maximum motorsports
k-member
a-arms
full length sub frame connectors
torque bar
panhard bar
lower control arms
front sway bar

I'm sure I’m forgetting a couple things. Feel free to ask me any questions. I’m interested in trades for a comparable STi or evo. I don’t need to sell the car I would just like to consolidate down to one car. With the current market I don’t anticipate any buyers in my price range but I was originally trying to sell it for it for around 27k. Obviously since the car isn’t running I had to drop my price. I’m asking 14k obo. I’m moving soon and the car has to go! I estimate around 2-4k in labor/parts to get her going again. This is a great winter project for someone with the time and money.

Take a kidney, testicle and first born in trade?

I'd love to have this, I saw the car in the shop and thought it was awesome!

What do you think happened to it? Sounds like a chain broke or was it just that a crank or cam pick up sensor went bad? Hell, when I first read it was so tempted to trade you my vert for it, but I really need to downsize my fleet. lol. If you want to bring it over, I won't charge you to diagnose it. Who knows, it could be something very simple. Matt can figure it out and we'll learn a little maybe in the process. Let us know.

This. Is the motor seized or does it turn over? What is your estimation of 2-4k to fix it based on? I have seen this car many times at the shop, great looking car.

The motor is seized. the 2-4k estimate comes from 1-1.5k in labor (dropping the motor and tearing it down, then installation) and 500-1500 in parts. I suspect the culprit is something in the timing system. ie. timing, chain, chain tensioner, etc... But I could be wrong.

Well when you get it down there, Matt will figure it out for you. If it backfired, then wouldn't start, then won't crank, it could be a few things, but sounds like maybe a chain snapped. It's been a while, but I believe we put new guides in but you wanted to reuse the chains and tensioners. I just want to know what's up with it now. Bring it over and we'll see what it is. And I'll see what I can do to get it fixed for you. I stand behind what comes out of the shop. I know it's been a while, and it's a high performance supercharged vehicle, but I want to see what it is.

Did it get sold again?

No, he sold it backnblack.

I sold it to matt for 27,500 two years ago, and told him last year that if planned on selling it, i wanted it back. I cant believe he sold it for 14k, might as well given it away.

Yep, over such a simple fix as a bent rod and a new set of injectors.
